Non-Scoble items for today… 🙂

BTW, on a slightly related note, I did make a recommendation about a product once where I looked at enthusiast sites and journalist sites and took their word for it. It was OS X for our graphics person. All of the zealots told me using Classic Mode was no problem. I should have been more cynical, because it has been nothing but a problem.

Gangs of New York was excellent. I highly recommend it, and not just because I’m Irish, Catholic, raised in New York and descended from immigrants either. 🙂 Angela was raised in the South and the Draft Riots of 1863 were a side of the Civil War she had never really been exposed to this in-depth, so it’s got some education for everyone. We also saw Two Weeks Notice yesterday, a cute movie. Definitely chick-flick material but cute and fun nonetheless.

After getting the Dell Axim early, the rest of my Christmas presents were decidedly low-tech, with the exception of a Think Geek Foobar T-shirt. (Yeah it’s spelled FooBar instead of Fubar, interesting, almost makes it seem like some sort of top-secret Foo Fighters t-shirt..*L*) I’m glad though, I like to have non-tech interests as well, makes for a more well-rounded approach to life and work.

  • The real patch

nf0 was kind enough to post the actual link to the Outlook patch in the forum. Thanks! I was too busy to really look through the news story about it carefully and completely missed the fact that, once again, the news story didn’t provide an actual link to the patch. It would be helpful if…

  • RSS on a Pocket PC

Anyone ever used PocketFeed? I’m looking for something that’ll do RSS on my new PocketPC but I also recognize that since I don’t have a WiFi card for it, I’ll be syncing it on the laptop for all the RSS feeds. It might be just as easy to run Amphetadesk on the laptop and copy…

  • More IE Service pack issues

Found another potential problem with the installation of Internet Explorer 6 SP1. Apparently it adds and automatically checks a checkbox on your Tools/Options/Security tab that tells OE to “Not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus.” Nice idea, but the “potential virus” attachments I just tested it with, a…

  • Knoppix

Oh yeah the Knoppix CD has been burned and I did do a quick boot using it on my work machine, just to make sure I had a good CD. The setup didn’t find any soundcard. I’ve yet to have any Linux install configure the integrated audio on any of my PC’s that have that….

  • How not to do an upgrade

After spending much time and effort trying to get my wife’s blog to work I could easily write a book about what not to do when you do an upgrade. For example: Don’t update any of your support documentation before you release. Be sure that said documentation lists as a troubleshooting step to check a…

  • New addition

I’ve gone ahead and added a Forum system on the site. I didn’t necessarily feel like it was needed as far as the core audience here, but seeing as how the promise of That Hosting Company working again, that I thought we had Weds., has dissipated, I’m setting it up and spreading the word that…
