Duh…

Someone asked me earlier today if they could create a distribution list in the Contacts folder of Outlook and then move it to someone else’s Outlook. Since we don’t have any sort of shared folders, (We have no real mail server outside of the POP3 our ISP uses and the MS Mail we use internally.) I started trying to find ways to use the import/export engine, and create a .csv or some other complexity like that. It was only after about a half hour of this that it dawned on me that a copy/paste to a network drive, followed by a copy/paste from the network drive to the other Outlook Contacts folder would do the trick just fine. I commited the cardinal sin of IT, I overlooked the obvious answer. I’m blaming it on the fact that I’m mentally already into the weekend! 🙂

A couple of interesting things seen in newsletters today. First there’s today’s Spyware Info Weekly which talks about accusations of reverse engineering and fraud among different anti-spyware apps. Interesting stuff, I think we’d all do well to make sure we aren’t using a fake spyware killer. Then, from today’s LangaList comes a pointer to Fred’s…

Now that I’ve probably gotten that song stuck in your head for the rest of the weekend, (and mine!!!) I was struck this morning by feedback from fellow bloggers who, it turns out, I have something in common with! First came the comment from Gary Petersen that he discovered blogging at Gnomedex last year too!…

  • Anyone tried this out?

The latest issue of WinXPnews points to a fairly interesting little tool that I had not seen before, the Netcraft Anti-phishing toolbar. It apparently gives you the hosting location of the site you’re on and lets you easily report phishing sites. Anyone been using this and have any feedback on how well it works? I…

A couple of interesting things I saw in my aggregator this morning. Suprisingly there wasn’t that much to look at after not having been in the office since Weds at noon. Guess lots of folks switched to light-blogging mode for the holiday and the weekend! Good sites for MT Junkies In case my other site…

  • You need my passwords???

Tonight when I powered on my desktop PC, I was caught somewhat by surprise by Outlook asking me for my Gmail IMAP password. I fired up Twhirl at the same time and was somewhat surprised that it asked for my Twitter password as well, but I entered it and immediately tweeted to see if anyone…

  • Live, partially

I just went public with part of the intranet site. I pointed people to the webcalendar subdirectory and gave an explanation of the conference room calendar and how to use it to book a conference room. We’ll see what sort of feedback I get. (I’ll be keeping an eye on access.log to see who actually…
