Codename Max

Yeah, I installed Max this evening. This is Microsoft’s new photo-sharing tool. At this point the only real advantage to this as opposed to just having a Flickr list and sharing it with people is the ability to do a couple of funky things with displaying photos as they would look framed on a mantle, or in a photo album. Hopefully, they add more stuff to it to really allow you to get creative with how to show off your photos. I haven’t set-up any shared lists, but I might at some point when I have some more time, so if you are using it, let me know so I can see what you’re doing and I’ll be sure to let you know about lists I create in the future!

Of course, I’ll still concentrate mostly on putting pictures on-line so everyone who wants to see them who isn’t using Max, or Windows for that matter, can see them.

    The Scourge of Amateurs

So now it’s Instagram ruining photography, eh? I can remember, like Matthew, when the same complaints were leveled against blogs and twitter. • Vision coverage..

As a personal note, since I just arrived back in the office from a visit to the eye doctor, and the ordering of new glasses for my new prescription, find a job with vision coverage! 🙂 Seriously, just a small tweak to my prescription was needed, to try and account for the fact that my…

A reader emails: (Gee I sound all important, don’t I? *L*) “Some IT-ers will wear T-shirts saying, “NO I will NOT fix your computer” Personally, I love doing that. I get a charge out of it. I’d volunteer to do it. I noticed my brother-in-law needed a bit of help with his, so I volunteered…

  • Best Firefox Extension Ever

Over at LifeHack.org today I saw the extension that does what we’ve all wished we could do with our Firefox settings. “FEBE backs up your extensions, themes, and (optionally) your bookmarks, preferences and cookies.” Of course, along with backing them up, it also makes them all transferrable to another computer! Freaking awesome! Tags: FEBE, Firefox…

  • OpenOffice 1.1 available

According to this article the new version of Open Office is available for download. I tried out 1.0 a long while back and found it a little too limiting for what I use Office for, I wonder if it’s worth a look at the new one? Might make an interesting comparison to the Office 2003…
