MS Office Beta Notes This is a side-blog where I intend to keep all of my notes from Beta testing new versions of Office. This will keep them all in one place for future reference. I started this with Office 2003, and am bringing it back for the 2007 version. This is not an official Microsoft site, this is just the ramblings of one IT guy.

120 Day Eval Since the free, full version they promised me won't be forthcoming until close to the end of the year, I went ahead and installed the evaluation copies of Office Professional and OneNote on my laptop last night. It went pretty smoothly, the only hitch was that my Windows 2000 laptop, apparently, didn't have the Windows Installer version 2.0, which is required to install Office 2003. After I located that and installed it, the install took only about 15 minutes for both. The reasoning behind this move to the laptop is simple. I want to see how much, and in what ways, I use OneNote on a laptop. I never had much reason on the home desktop to use it, we'll see how trying it out on the laptop goes. The one thing I do miss from Office 2000 on the laptop though, is the shortcut bar! On a laptop, when I'm using the touchpad, I liked having one-click access to most of the commonly used programs. Now I'll have to find some sort of thrid-party tool to pop over there at the side of the desktop. Shouldn't be too hard, right? :)
