We get mail

Steven, the person who originally wrote me about the Office vouchers for the launch event where they ran out happily wrote to let me know that his voucher is on the way, MS sent him the coupon code in his email. At the same time, Jim, who commented that he had the same experience, was able to reach the local MS office on the phone and he got squared away as well. Excellent!

In another email, Darryl sends this:

"I had office 2003 beta installed -- I do not have access to the installation
disks and because unintsall did not wotk I tried to remove the programs
manually so I could install Frontpage 2003. I've tried to get things out of
the registry but when I try to install I get a note that says
I must remove the beta version first - and the install dumps-do you know of
a file or reg key that I can delete to get on with my installation? Because
I can't install I can't come up with the product number for MS help.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated"


So, any ideas? I had to admit to being stumped on this one at first glance, but I know smarter people than me visit here, so who's got some suggestions?

PowerPoint 2003 Viewer

The PowerPoint 2003 Viewer is now available for download. This tool will let you view or print any presentation created with PowerPoint 97 or later, without the cost of paying for Office. You won't be able to edit a presentation, but you can view it.

Office 2003 Critical Update

And we have a critical update out already. Office 2003 Critical Update: KB828041 says:

"This update fixes an issue in Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft Excel 2003 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 that occurs when opening a file last edited and saved in Office 2000. Under this specific scenario it is possible for graphic content to be inadvertently lost on save. "

I suppose it's nice to see MS getting it's bug fixes out so soon. :)
