MS Office Beta Notes This is a side-blog where I intend to keep all of my notes from Beta testing new versions of Office. This will keep them all in one place for future reference. I started this with Office 2003, and am bringing it back for the 2007 version. This is not an official Microsoft site, this is just the ramblings of one IT guy.

More details Chris provides some more details about his distaste for Outlook 2003 in today's Lockergnome. I'll admit that 2003 seems slower than 2000, but I don't think the difference is that major. (I run 2000 every day at work and 2003 everyday at home, so it's not like I simply don't remember how fast 2000 is.) Given that 2003 is doing more, like spam filtering, creating search folders, etc., I would expect some speed loss there and I'm happy to trade in some speed to have those features built-in to my email client. Of course I don't use email as much as Chris does, so maybe it's just me. I would rather have my email client doing more to protect me from spam and malicious scripts, or give me more follow-up options, or letting me customize my own search folders, and if that means I give up some speed, so be it. Outlook 2003 complaints Chris Pirillo has a beef with Outlook 2003. He says that if you're not connecting to an Exchange server you'd feel the same way. I use it with POP3 email and I don't really see what the problem is. It works pretty well for me, but I guess people are just different. :)
