On the flip side though, thinking about the world we live in, and have lived in over the last year, understand how much stress is now coming from outside the workplace, but impacting the workplace. I’ve already written on my other site about how I’m struggling, not with work, but with life. Yet, it impacts my work. It impacts how much energy I have to be “on” in Zoom meetings and workplace gatherings. It impacts my ability to sleep, and various other things, and that really does impact what my workday looks like as well. I know I’m not the only one. Since coming clean about it publicly, I’ve heard from any number of people feeling the same way.
Maybe, in the workplace, we need to make space for that. We need to consider how much stress we are adding to each other with interruptions, meetings, etc. and find a way to let people get work done, and be productive without all of that. Because, we’re all human, and we bring all of our human stuff to the workplace too.
