The big debate

I have to admit, my expertise when it comes to Powerpoint is limited, to say the least. So I’m asking, in PowerPoint 2000, when you use the Insert menu to insert a multimedia file into a presentation, does it link the file, or embed the file? And if it only links the file, what steps need to be taken to embed the file?

My guess is that it links the file, because someone did that here and it worked on his PC, but no one else’s, and didn’t work when he was disconnected from the network. All of which makes sense if the presentation is using a relative link to find the media file.

I’d forgotten about how gawd-awful the Microsft Windows File Associations web service is. I don’t remember ever getting a file with no program associated and clicked the “click here to get information on the programs needed to open this file” and found actual useful information, most times it’s just like this: http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?Ext=mdi The sad thing…

Brad makes an interesting point, is Trillian Pro even legal? You’re paying for access to other, free, IM systems. Or could they claim you’re paying for the add-ons because the free version of Trillian already gives you access to those systems for free? Interesting question, any legal scholars out there? For a little bit of…

So after another eventful Monday at work, mostly with routine junk, email updates, and Staff Meetings that are normal for Mondays, I went home with even more work to do. No, I didn’t give Red Hat another try. After that debacle I needed to actually accomplish something, so I started work on the Job Search…

We’re in Chattanooga tonight, had stops today at the Lost Sea and the Tennessee Aquarium. We took lots of pictures, but there’s no wi-fi available from our hotel, only dial-up so uploading pics will probably wait until we get home. After all of the events of last week, it feels good to be away. Now…
