Have a Happy and Safe Holiday!

Since I know many of you will not be online tomorrow, or through the weekend, just wanted to wish you a wonderful holiday wherever you happen to spending it.

DSC_0375I took this picture in Sydney during my recent trip there for work. It has something in it that we haven’t seen much of in Oregon this December, the sun. Of course, Christmas is a Summer holiday down there, which only goes to show that no matter what you’re doing, or who you’re spending your holiday season with, there is more than one way to celebrate.

However you choose to celebrate this year, I hope you enjoy the heck out of it, and remember all the folks who do care about you, wherever they happen to be this time of year.

That goes especially for all the folks that have someone way out here in Oregon who cares about them. We may be spending the holiday in the rainy Willamette Valley, but our hearts are with all of you.

    Are Facebook Pages Worth It?

I’ve always been a firm believer in having my own site be my online “home”, and using social networks to simply augment the audience. By that, I mean I’d write here, and simply push it out to Twitter, Facebook, etc. for folks who preferred to use those sites to follow their favorite blogs. I wanted…

    Botnet Effects

Sorry for the downtime yesterday, and for not being able to explain it until now. It appears that there is a pretty significant botnet attack being directed against WordPress sites, and all of the brute force login attempts were making sites unresponsive. In order to get the sites back online my host blocked access to…

You Do The Best You Can

Sometimes, as an amateur photographer, you find yourself in a situation to shoot some photos, but real life interferes with following “best practices”. Last week was one of those occasions. While at Disney with my wife’s family, especially our 6 year old niece, we decided to stay out at night and catch the fireworks at…

    Shooting at the Beach

A couple of observations about shooting at the beach over the Christmas weekend: 1. Off-season is a great time to photograph a beach. It is much easier to get landscape and seabird shots when they are only a handful of people within sight of you along the beach. 2. On the other hand, the lack…

Couple of My Photos Used in Music Video

The lovely, and talented, Annika Vitolo put out the word that she was looking for photos taken in Brooklyn for her latest music video, and who am I to say no to a fellow PS 207 alum? (Annika and I sat next to each other in 6th grade, a “few” years ago.) Seeing all the…
