Disturbing behavior…

Yesterday, as I was leaving work I noticed that one of my coworkers has a telescope in his office. Naturally, it’s pointed out the window. Two thoughts raced into my head:

1) We only work during the day.

2) Even if you were here at night, we work in a downtown, urban, hence, well-lit area. Not great for star gazing.

I hope it’s just for decorative purposes because the other options are, well, disturbing…

Then, on the way home last night, stopped at the Taco Bell drive-thru, the woman in front of me was placing her order to the little speaker box, and using hand gestures. While I couldn’t hear what she ordered, I know she wanted 5 of one thing and 3 of another because she held up that many fingers to the box when she ordered. Of course, it was then that I also noticed that her license plate holder was upside down…

Then upon my arrival at home I saw that we had gotten not one, but 2 AOL CD’s in the mail. My first thought was “Oh my god, their software got so big it doesn’t even fit on an f’ing cd anymore!” But that was not the case, they simply sent us two slightly different marketing pieces at the same time! Which, to me, is even more stupid that my first thought, so that just goes to show, never underestimate the level of stupidity in the world, especially at AOL. 🙂

  • Selling your boss

Thanks to a link on SimpleGeek, I saw this article by Michael Hyatt called “How to Sell Your Boss”. While not as specific to IT as some of the stuff I’ve been talking about, some of the general ideas are similar, and well, let’s face it, it’s written more elegantly than anything I blog. 🙂…

  • Problems, problems

What’s going on today, all of our connections to the internet have been rather flaky, both through the cable modem and dial-up with a different ISP? Some sites I can’t get to at all, others are SLOW, and others I can access some parts one time, other parts another time. Maybe the strong winds outside…

  • Firefox Hole

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about the security hole in Firefox, and the “recommended fixes”. Here’s the thing though, turning off Javascript disables all those cool little Greasemonkey scripts, and turning off “Let website install software” just makes it more difficult for people to get extensions for Firefox. It’s those extensions and add-ons…
