Jan 6

First off thanks to all the feedback about the PocketPC and PocketFeed! You guys are great. 🙂

Second just an FYI, I offically registered to take both of the A+ exams on Jan 6. Seeing as how I forked out $139 per exam on this, I’m thinking I’ve really got to pass these things! Luckily, I figured out that I can transcribe some notes and tables (like IRQ tables, DMA channels, or Socket Type/Processor table, the stuff that’s really hard for me to memorize!) and I’m syncing them to the PocketPC, so I’m studying and learning to use my new gadget all at once.

Anyway, you’ll excuse me if I get involved pretty heavily in A+ stuff and don’t do much work around the site for awhile, won’t you?

  • You gotta love it..

Someone, who shall remain nameless but who is related to me, (although not in my immediate family) forwarded me one of those chain letter email thingies. Not a big deal, she’s been known to do this from time to time, but in this case, she didn’t take out any of the previous forwarding information. This…

  • More aggregators

In the interest of being thorough, (and in providing service to the 4% 2.68% (to be exact) of my site visitors that use a Mac,) a Mac news aggregator freeware program became available. It’s called NetNewsWire Lite 1.0b2, from Brent Simmons. Early reviews are positive but, not having a Mac myself, I can’t really verify…

Good Way to Develop Those “Soft” Skills People Are Always on About – Train Others

If you want to challenge yourself to learn something deeply, start figuring out how you would train someone to do it. If your employer doesn’t have an opening for a full-time trainer, create some opportunities to cross-train with your team, to reach out across teams and help teach them some of your skills, or to introduce them to some new technology that is coming. The skills you develop with come in handy, and you’ll be showing off some serious leadership skills as well, something that is probably in short supply in your industry. It is in most, anyway.

  • Docly

I got an email earlier this week about an interesting new service put together by the people who gave us Numly, the service that lets you copyright your blog posts or other on-line content. (And yes, I’ve gotten away from doing that, mostly out of sheer laziness.) It’s a service they’re calling Docly: Docly, the…

Yes, I did pick up the wireless card and get the wireless router working within the existing network. I’m blogging this from the bedroom right now before I hit the sack. That is very cool. Still have some odd behavior that I need to research a bit before I’ll feel 100% comfortable that everything is…
