Fake MS Worm

We spent the day down at Falls Creek State Park here in Tennessee, pics to come later, I’m sure.

On the tech front, someone at work got one of those fake Microsoft emails with the “installer.exe” attached and forwarded it to me. Luckily for me, when he did that I was able to verify that our ISP did strip the .exe from it, so that’s good! I won’t have that mess to return to next week. I also got a chance to see the email itself, and it’s a pretty good fake, unlike most. They went out of their way to get the same look and feel of the MS support websites, and they make it sound pretty authentic. Of course, anyone in the know would know that they don’t email patches, but novices will be fooled by this if they’re not careful and they don’t think about that very basic fact!

I spent a late night over the weekend trying to fix the problem with Angela’s current PC.
