Didn’t I see this in a movie?

I swear my work life gets more like Office Space everyday. We’re planning to introduce, by the first of the year, a new policy which will govern the proper way for the organization to recognize staff birthdays, weddings, child births, family deaths, etc. Apparently, someone has been discussing and working on this policy since the summer, but they wanted to wait until the first of the year to kick it off. I don’t know how many work hours were spent on this but I’m thinking anything more than the equivalent of a bathroom break, was too many!

Personally, I’m thinking it should be opt-in. My birthday is a holiday, the fact that I am not at work for it, is commemoration enough! 🙂

  • Out of the Office

It was nice being away from the office for most of today. The Microsoft seminar was semi-interesting. Some demo’s of new software, which was interesting, but nothing that made me want to run out and buy any of them right this minute. There’s some things in Office XP that are nice, but nothing that would…

  • Automatic updates and other problems

Well my users got notified that there were downloads available this morning sure enough. Unfortunately, nothing actually got downloaded, all of them had many dropped or abandoned download attempts in the Windows Update log. Looks like I’ll be spending a bunch of time figuring this one out… Meanwhile, I also had issue with them all…
