Weird IT question of the day

When you work in IT, not only do you have to answer questions about PC’s, but sometimes you even get to figure out why the two-letter abbreviation for Quebec that someone wrote as their address, QC, is not what the database will accept as the proper abbreviation for Quebec. You would think that if someone living there abbreviated it QC the database would surely do the same, right? You’d be wrong. It will only accept PQ, which I assume is the French language version of it.

How much you want to bet that months from now, someone’s going to ask me where that stupid PQ came from? 🙂

According to Lessig that’s exactly what may happen in Mexico: “The Mexican Congress is about to consider a revision to its copyright law. Among it many changes, the law will extend the term of copyright from life-plus-70 to life-plus-100. (And no doubt thus beginning yet another cycle of “harmonization” around the world.) Worse, at the…

It isn’t quite after midnight yet, but this is a special little message for my wife’s birthday on Sunday. This particular picture is the essence of what I feel about Angela. It’s a picture taken in a beautiful place, on our honeymoon. It shows her being happy, looking classy while also being playful, and looking…
