Excuse the mess

I’m reimaging a machine this morning. This one proved to be a little tricky as the hosed OS was masking an actual hardware failure. So while I knew I could fix the blue screens with a nice, clean reinstall, I couldn’t even start the reinstall until I identified that the RAM was bad. A quick switch out with some extra RAM I had laying around out of an old machine fixed that problem, and then I could get to work on the blue screens that were still there, by doing a clean install. Fun, fun let me tell ya’!

I saw earlier this week that a couple of my favorite podcasts had created listener email discussion lists, so I’m all signed up to be part of the group for both Geek News Central and In the Trenches. I’m curious to see how the email lists work out and whether a community of listeners develops…

The other new thing I’m trying out, at least on my work PC, is Mozilla 1.1. (Yeah I’m really behind on this one!) I do like some of the features, and it was nice to get a good look at what this site looks like in Moz, since I had already seen what it looks…

I have some more “notes” on Outlook 2003, but before I post them I’m considering the possibility of giving those Office Beta Notes a blog of their own. What, another blog? Isn’t 2 enough? Well yes, but this one would only be temporary, until Nov. 30 when the beta period ends, and it would then…

So the voice mail system went kaput! already this morning. There’s nothing quite like looking over at your phone and seeing the red light next to the voice mail button on solid red when you don’t have the phone off the hook. Hmm let’s see, if I hit the button it says “Voicemail is Unplugged”….

  • Trackback Disabled

I disabled trackbacks on the entire blog. I’m tired of dealing with the spam. Perhaps if Haloscan puts something together that makes some effort at blocking it I’ll think about it again, but for now, it’s too much work deleting the dozens of spam trackbacks every single day. While the trackbacks will still appear in…

  • They don’t expect me to work like this do they?

We’re having some plumbing work done this morning. They’ve turned off all the water to the building, at least for the early part of the morning. That means no coffee. How can I be expected to work with no coffee? 🙂 Update: 9:45AM Water’s back on and there is the sweet heat of coffee in…
