I don’t like Mondays

I’ve got the Boomtown Rats song “I don’t like Mondays” running through my head this morning. (Anybody else even remember that song?) Anyway, I’ve never really been a big fan of Monday mornings to begin with, but today just seems to really be a drag. I’m not feeling particularly motivated for anything, I need some inspiration. Even the news today seems rather uninspiring, there’s the Klez variants running around, and Microsoft released a patch for an Outlook hole (The hole only exists if you use Word to edit emails), but that’s hardly new and exciting news, is it?

I think it all stems from being told that none of my ideas for the technology advancement of the workplace are even going to be considered, that management can’t be bothered to see that it’s important to have vision for what we could be doing with technology, as opposed to just doing things the way we do now. They claim to be too busy with other issues. They don’t see how some investment in technology and a commitment to using it properly would go a long way toward helping those issues. Sometimes, having no management with any tech knowledge really sucks.

On the other hand, I am getting really excited about the NHL playoffs. We’ve got a couple of Game 7’s coming up over the next two nights, and it’s still only the first round. If you’ve never seen a hockey game before and want to see why people love it, watch the passion and intensity of a Game 7 in the playoffs. There’s nothing like it. The Kings-Avalanche game, well I haven’t been able to stay up late enough to watch most of that series, so I can’t tell you much, other than the Kings were down 3 games to 1 and have back-to-back wins to get to this point, but being an Islander fan since I used to watch the games with my Grandpa Stevenson as a kid, I’ve been following the Islanders-Maple Leafs series very closely. It’s been nasty, and at times ugly series between these two teams. There have been cheap shots causing injury, a lot of yapping back and forth and physical play that makes me think that it’s really gotten personal between these two teams. The Islanders won at home last night to force Game 7 in Toronto on Tuesday, it should be a great game!

OK I should get some work done, I’ve got a PC with some corrupt fonts, (Probably from not having been restarted in weeks) so I’m off to take a look at that. (I’ll restart it, bet the fonts are restored just fine after that.)

Yesterday on my way to Gulfport, I made a stop at the Mississippi Vietnam Memorial in Ocean Springs.
