Angela’s new toy

Angela braved the Friday morning crowds to pick up a new toy for us, well for her more than anything, but we’ll both be enjoying it. At $154 the Kodak EasyShare CX4300 digital camera was a nice addition to the family gadget collection. Anytime you can grab a 3.1 megapixel camera for that price, it’s worth it!

Not that I would have been lined up at Walmart at 5:45AM the way she and her mom, and numerous other people, were. I was still sleeping snugly in the bed while they were out on the shopping extravaganza, but I admire their dedication. 🙂

They even had 64MB SD cards real cheap too, so she got one of those to work with the camera. Now I figure we’ll have two digital cameras when the need arises between us, and I can always use the 128MB CF card back and forth between the HP digital camera and the Pocket PC, at least until I outgrow it. 🙂

I hope the rest of you are going to be getting cool toys for Xmas yourselves!

Dan wrote to tell me about another possible entry into the Freeware News Aggregator Comparison. It’s called Free Reader. Alas, the review will be slightly delayed because said program does not appear to have any options to tell it to connect using a firewall and proxy. So I’ll have to wait until I have some…

  • Voter apathy

Here’s a thought, maybe voter turnout isn’t low because of voter apathy. Maybe, just maybe, all those non-voters out there are simply waiting for a candidate to run who is actually worthy of our important vote. I can’t remember the last time a candidate was actually worth voting for, let alone taking the time and…

Pardon the interruption in normal blogging patterns. I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time this afternoon losing an argument with a tape drive. I’m in the right on this argument, but I’m afraid it’s circular logic pattern has left us both stuck with quite the conundrum. (If a tape drive doesn’t detect a tape…

  • Reading with my coffee

Finally a day without fires to put out, maybe I can get caught up on the tech happenings around the ‘net this week: Windows 2000 SP3 is available. As Josh says in his pointer to it, there’s not much info on exactly what it does, so I’ll be following my normal “wait and let someone…

  • Back to normal

Well our event went pretty well, of course there were some screwups and setbacks but nothing that any of the attendees noticed, so that’s the mark of a successful event, right? All of our tech stuff has been accounted for and is still in working condition. Our intern got to actually have a computer this…

  • The real patch

nf0 was kind enough to post the actual link to the Outlook patch in the forum. Thanks! I was too busy to really look through the news story about it carefully and completely missed the fact that, once again, the news story didn’t provide an actual link to the patch. It would be helpful if…
