Monday morning

Oh it’s going to be a good week, I can tell. How? Here’s the omens:

I was greeted by a fellow employee’s questions about his home computer first thing this morning. Really, FIRST thing. Before I had even gotten to my office, let alone turned on my computer. Literally while I was walking down the hall with my laptop bag over my shoulder and key to my office in my hand, this person was hitting me with computer questions. Then, when I finally did settle into my office and turn my PC on, I was greeted by an email with a .pif attachment claiming to be from support@microsoft.com. Nice try, but I’ll be deleting that. Let’s hope anyone else in the building who got it did the same…

I’m ready to go back to bed.

One Huge Challenge with M365 for Admins – An Example

It’s a huge challenge. We have no control over updates, and Microsoft is increasingly releasing new features before they build out the compliance tools that would allow us to manage them. As Tony pointed out above, agents may have critical impacts on current security and data privacy work. No matter, it’s coming. Figure it out.

As I mentioned during the ILTA session last month, I don’t see how organizations will function without a dedicated staff to monitor and communicate changes. Consider just how much work is involved in understanding Copilot and all of the compliance issues surrounding the use of AI, then consider how fast Microsoft is rolling out new Copilot features. It’s been a moving target since day one.

It’s only a small part of the M365 environment.

I’m not sure how to prove this mathematiclly, but I’m working today on a theory, let’s call it the Outraged at Outages theory. You see, our office internet connection has been down a good part of the day, seems there might have been a problem that the phone company created, and so, it may be…

  • This is sooo getting forwarded!

As some of you know, if you’ve been paying attention, I’ve been trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to bring the RSS movement to the place I work. Mostly it’s been out of a fear that the emails we send our members are increasingly not being delivered. Well now, as Jenny pointed out, the Public Utilities Commission of…

  • The art of change

As I told you last week, at my new job I’ve been completely consumed with the roll out of a new document management system that occurred at the same time that I started. Folks are still getting used to the new system, and still have tons of questions, which definitely keeps all of us in…
