Told you I wasn’t a loser

Yup, it’s official, I’m a winner, despite all the “loser” talk. As part of Chuck Chat Technorama show #50 they had a drawing for some donated prizes and I was the winner of a free copy of the new Podcasting book by Todd Cochrane, of Geek News Central fame. I’m looking forward to reading the book and learning more about the mechanics behind podcasting.

Let me pause for a moment here, however, and answer the obvious question. No, I have no plans to start doing a podcast. I am already working one full time job, one part time consulting gig, and am heavily involved in what is looking to be a late 2005/early 2006 launch of the Friends of the Library site. I am already spending less time with my wife and working on my sites than I want to, I’m not about to try and add something new until the consulting for the old job has been passed off to someone else and that site has been launched and even then, my interest is in providing the occasional audio content, not a full-fledged regular podcast show. There are enough great tech podcasts out there, they don’t need my help. Check out Friends in Tech, for example. I’m not interested in trying to do what those folks do, but I might be interested in recording the occasional spot for those shows or just something to entertain you all or maybe even some audio files for my wife to keep forever. So I have an interest in learning more about doing that, hence my excitement about the book. Just don’t hold your breathe waiting to hear my lovely, monotone, voice. 🙂

Anyway, thanks to Chuck and Kreg from Chuck Chat Technorama for drawing my name, and to Todd for contributing the free book to help celebrate their show 50! Keep up the good work guys!

    Predicting Change

Research shows us that, at every age, people are pretty terrible at estimating just how much things will change in the next 10 years: Research recently reported on in the New York Times about a study on self-perception published in Science shows that individuals at every age and demographic make this kind of error: They…
