Are we still discussing this?

I see the full-feed/partial-feed debate has risen it’s ugly head again. Oh joy, just when I thought I might have missed something while I was toiling in the land of dialup at my in-laws all weekend, and then driving home today.

Nope, same old crap. People with advertising, who are worried about the money they may or may not be making from their sites don’t want to give me full feeds. This, my friends, is why I have no plans to do anything like Google Ad-sense or any of that other junk here. I have this site for my own enjoyment, my own education. I pay for it myself, and if it ever gets to a point where the enjoyment is less than the cost of having it, I’ll stop. This isn’t my job, I already have a job. I already have a side consulting gig temporarily, too. If I tried to make this another job, I’d go insane and my wife would probably kill me, not necessarily in that order. This is fun. Reading blogs is fun. Reading blogs takes up less time when they have full feeds, hence, I am more likely to read a blog that does. If that bothers you, I don’t care. If you feel like I’m stealing your content by reading it without ever seeing your ads, let me know. I’ll be more than happy to quit reading it, and read someone else’s.

I found the Peachtree Forums today and discovered that we’re not the first one’s to have issues printing with this version of Peachtree. • Selling your boss

Thanks to a link on SimpleGeek, I saw this article by Michael Hyatt called “How to Sell Your Boss”. While not as specific to IT as some of the stuff I’ve been talking about, some of the general ideas are similar, and well, let’s face it, it’s written more elegantly than anything I blog. 🙂…

  • And they’re off..

The office is closing a couple of hours early today to give everyone a head start on their Thanksgiving holiday. (I’ve still got a couple of things to finish up, so I’m blogging this now, instead of right before we leave.) Since we’re driving down to West Virginia to see Angela’s parents today, the extra…

  • Figures

The site has been working pretty consistently, but of course the one time I write a really long post and hope for some folks to go to my my wife’s blog and wish her a happy birthday the site goes down for 12 hours! So don’t think you’re too late because the entreaty was written…

  • You gotta be nimble

You want to work in IT? You might want to stretch first, so you can stay nimble. I have a long list of projects that need done this week. That list changed twice yesterday, one project being moved to next week, and another being added to this week. Today, that added project has been postponed…
