The Real Danger to Free Speech is Ourselves

5764850142_6dfb4e6ebe_us-bill-of-rightsMajority of Democrats, 37 percent of GOP want to repeal the First Amendment.

This is absolutely frightening to me. It’s also sad that we have reached a point, as a society, where we only want to be so comfortable with our own ideas, and not challenged by other ideas, that we’d be willing to give up the bedrock of our Democracy in order to punish people we don’t agree with.
If you truly agree with making exceptions to the First Amendment, what will you do when your idea is deemed to be “hate speech” by someone who disagrees? Who will defend your right to speak?
