You may notice how frequently the words “intentional” or “on purpose” appear. With remote teams, nothing is left to chance encounters, because there aren’t chance encounters.
Employees want to know they are being treated fairly and are trusted to find the best way to accomplish the required work. That doesn’t seem so difficult. Both of these things reduce the risk of burnout, a phenomenon that is becoming a workplace hazard everywhere. You would think they were asking for the impossible from the way some companies act, though.

Layoffs aren’t good for business. They are detrimental to employees, even those not directly affected, and I would add that they also don’t benefit customers.
The only benefit large corporations seem to get from layoffs is an increase in stock price, and that might be everything you need to know about the priorities of the C-Suite.
