We’re back!

Turns out we had no internet connection the entire time we were in Gatlinburg. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I’ll be sure to get up to speed quickly, I hope. We had a great time, and got some really beautiful pictures from our hike in the Smoky Mountains on Sunday. They will be up soon, at least some of them. Highlights were the Grotto Falls hike, the Aquarium, the bookstore in Pigeon Forge where I found four books I’ve been wanting to read for the grand total of $23, and the Chocolate Margarita Mousse desert at No Way Jose’s Cantina. (Yummy!)

The books I picked up at Foozles? The Bombast Transcripts: Rants and Screeds of RageBoy., The Future and Its Enemies , Coercion : Why We Listen to What ‘They’ Say, and A+ Exam Notes : Core Module. (Yeah I need to pick up a certification sometime this summer to enhance my future job search, A+ seems like the place to start.)

It’s now 7:13PM, we’ve been back in town for a few hours and I’m already at work, replacing a bad hard drive. I’m still technically on vacation, but I wanted to come and do this tonight and not have it to deal with first thing in the morning. I guess you could say I’m dedicated, or insane. They’re both pretty accurate.*L*

By the way, I got a lenghty email from Morbus in response to my desired aggregator features. Some of it explains how to do some of that now. No time to really get into it yet, but I’m truly looking forward to it!

  • A Small Way Social Media can be a Mental Health Positive

I know opening social media right now can feel like an open invitation to a never-ending scroll of rage. I’ve been avoiding much of it myself for the last few weeks, busying myself with travel and projects instead for the benefit of my mental health. I know, however, that the internet can be a source of inspiration, fun, community, and happiness. I need to commit to finding that rather than lazily scrolling through algorithmic feeds.

I found the Peachtree Forums today and discovered that we’re not the first one’s to have issues printing with this version of Peachtree. You might notice the nice little XML graphic over under the webcam pic to your left. Yes, I used RSSify at VoidStar.com to create a temporary RSS feed that you all can subscribe to. For the moment it’s imperfect, it doesn’t get the post titles and uses the first 40 characters of the post as…

  • Tip of the Week

This is actually the topic of my weekly email to the staff at work, something interesting that I discovered yesterday. One of my users was trying to send a mail list to one of our vendors. She had it saved as an Excel file with over 4000 records. The file was over 2MB in size….

  • Switch over

I officially switched the RSS Feed over to the new BloggerPro version of it, since it came out of Beta and into production. Now if you click the little “XML” image on the right side, you’ll go to that feed instead of the old one. The old one will continue to work for now, but…
