How not to start off a long weekend

Well I just discovered that my ICQ account has been hacked and I can no longer access it. So for the time being, ignore the ICQ information, and don’t try to contact me there.

On top of that, my return to work on Weds. is going to be met by yet another replacement hard drive to swap out. Given the location of the three offices that this has happened to, and the relative humidity of that area of the building, I’m working on getting our building management people to seriously do something about that. I was sweating just sitting in that office today. I don’t sweat in my office, even with the heat being generated by the server.

We’re off right after work today and while I had hoped to be doing some blogging over the next 4 days, the internet connection situation is up in the air once we reach Gatlinburg. So if I don’t have a net connection, I’ll fill you all in on Weds. or so.

In the meantime, you’re welcome to use the comments and the fourms to continue your discussions!

Among many things, an interesting side-effect of this is maybe people starting to see the reality of HR departments. I think this reality is especially true of law firms, and other organizations where there are owners/founders/partners, and everyone else. HR might encourage employees to bring their complaints, but they might also be powerless to do…

So how many of the laptops you support have had their batteries recalled? We have 12 pool laptops and it looks like 6 of them will need to be replaced. Dell’s site reported that it would take about 2 weeks to get the replacements, but I imagine it might really take loner given the size…
