Am I missing something?

I was reviewing some exam questions for the A+ exam over my lunch today, using the practice tests included with Mike Meyers’ A+ Certification Passport. It’s a decent book and the practice tests seem decent, but one of the questions had to do with someone who’s new email client could get incoming email but couldn’t send any email. Two of the possible answers were incorrect SMTP settings and incorrect POP3 settings. It gave the correct answer as incorrect POP3 settings. It even gave an explanation of the answer as “The POP3 settings are used for sending mail. Libby did not set her POP3 server settings correctly.”

I’ve setup an awful lot of email clients in my time and every one of them lists POP3 as incoming and SMTP as outgoing. 🙂 Maybe I’m just losing my freakin’ mind!

I’m thinking some sort of electrical short or something from the desk hitting it, but that seems somewhat far-fetched. Especially considering the telephone jack still works fine! I’m not an electrician, so…

Taken from a TechDirt posting: “A new study in the UK has come out saying that, while more companies are providing internet access to employees, a smaller percentage are using filtering technology to block out “inappropriate” sites. The article makes this out to be a terrible thing – suggesting companies don’t understand the risk.” Now,…

  • Another entry?

Well it seems like maybe I’ll have to try out this new RSS aggregator, Syndirella, and see how it rates up against the other ones I tried out last year. I should probably fire up Angela’s eMac at some point and try out NetNewsWire Lite and see how that stacks up too although, obviously, since…
