You gotta love it!

Don’t you just love when your internet connection goes flaky and you get an email out to your ISP and they respond with “We’re having some trouble with our proxy server, we’ll let you know when it’s working properly”, and then you find that the connection has been OK for hours, but no note from them? Yeah I’m always in the habit of checking it for myself and not waiting on them, and I’m glad they got it fixed, but really, wouldn’t it be nice if they actually meant it when they said “we’ll let you know”?

The site’s been unreachable all morning. I heard through the grapevine that it’s because the servers are all being moved over to the as yet un-named merge partner’s company. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that this will be worth the wait, in terms of improved reliability and service. We shall see. Hopefully I’ll be…

Linked – The Botnet That Broke the Internet Isn’t Going Away

WHEN THE BOTNET named Mirai first appeared in September, it announced its existence with dramatic flair. • Couple of MT hacks

Phil Ringalda has posted a pair of MT hacks that I’m noting here for my own benefit to read later. The Child Abuse site doesn’t have anywhere near enough traffic to have some of these problems, and well, it doesn’t have more than one blog running either, but you never know what the future will…

  • Proof positive

Last week, we talked about how much people listen to outside IT people compared to internal people. Remember that? This morning we have exhibit #1: I got an email from one of my users. One of his business contacts had forwarded him an email about virus warnings that she had gotten from their IT Department….
