Mac freeware?

So now that Angela has switched over to using the Mac as her main machine, we’ve discovered a couple of freeware programs she had loaded on her PC that she’d like to find replacements for. Namely a nice freeware Antivirus and non-command line FTP program! Having never used a Mac as my main machine I’m not as adept at finding good freeware for it. Anyone have any suggestions on these programs or who can point me to some good general Mac freeware sites?
