Linked: Facebook Groups Targeted by Spammers in New Wave of Misuse
Facebook’s own statement about this is a little scary:
““We removed several Groups from Facebook after detecting content that violated our policies. We’ve since discovered that this content was posted to sabotage legitimate, non-violating Groups. We’re working to restore any Groups affected and to prevent this from happening again.””
I mean if you want to silence opposing views, you could start by reporting them for hate speech or whatever, and see if that works. If it doesn’t just join them with fake accounts and create the posts that would get the whole group booted from the social network.
Ultimately, this is one of the many problems Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. face now that they have decided to get into editing the content allowed on their networks. Not just what is offensive and what isn’t, but what is real and what is just sabotage? Have you seen any of these posts in your groups? Have you seen groups go “Secret” to avoid the problem?
