30 Day Report Card

It’s getting close to the end of my 30 day period to claim my money back from Ready Hosting. I’ve spent 30 days checking out everything they offer, how they’ve dealt with questions I had, how the site has held up, how the email servers have held up, etc. So how are they doing? Well here’s a few nuggets:

According to InternetSeer which checks hourly for outages, there have been none.

I’ve yet to experience anytime where I could not connect to the email server, and all of my email seems to be coming in at a reasonable speed, with a notable exception of Yahoo Group mail, which is an issue with Yahoo’s mail servers, not Ready Hosting’s. All of my online “trouble tickets” were resolved in good time, the longest was slightly over 24 hours, but that was on a weekend. Most have been significantly less. They have a Support Forum, which gets a good response when you post something to it. Their users have put together a mailing list, which RH support people regularly visit and participate in. I’ve had only one complaint about their service, that being that the statistics software they use is horrible, but they were more than happy to switch me out of that and give me the raw logs instead, so I can use whatever log analysis tools I choose. The one time I actually placed a telephone call to tech support, the total time spent on the phone from dialing to “issue resolved”, 18 minutes. I’ve spent twice that long just on hold with other tech support departments, let alone having the issue taken care of!

So it’s not perfect, but for the price, I’m pretty darn happy with it. Unless something terribly bad happens in the next 2-3 days, I won’t be making use of the 30 day refund policy.

  • Integrity

It’s my considered opinion that whether we’re talking about real life or blog-life, the people who have integrity don’t really have to spend any time talking about their integrity. Much has been made of the fact that people like Chris and Doc were given paid trips to Redmond for a Microsoft event and whether or…

Yup, downloaded it last night. Took until this evening to get it activated. First off, let me just say, I’m really not the world’s biggest basketball fan, it’s no hockey. But I couldn’t help but notice that the “LeBron James era” started last night. Now, keeping in mind that the Cavs are the closest thing we have to a local NBA team, would you be surprised to know…

If you’re into that sort of thing, but use Blogger or some other weblogging tool that doesn’t do trackbacks, you have some options. You can use either SimpleTracks or the Stand Alone Trackback Form to manually ping web blogs that do support trackbacks. (links found on Robyn’s site, perhaps I’ll use this post to test…
