Yeah so I’m a geek!

Last night, I met a friend for drinks and dinner after work. Imagine, if you will, a very hip drinking establishment, right smack dab in the middle of the Arena district of Columbus. (You actually look out on the front entrance to Nationwide Arena from this place.) A bunch of young, single people hanging out doing their young, single people things, waitresses in tight black outfits, TV’s showing ESPN, music playing over top of any TV sound, etc. Over in the corner, there’s two somewhat older, married guys, huddled behind a laptop, looking at a Powerpoint presentation that my friend put together of his pics from a family trip to Indonesia this summer. Yeah I’m very hip and trendy aren’t I? 🙂

Although, I have to admit the pictures were very cool. Very different from anything you would see around here, that’s for sure. On the other hand, I could do without the gaunlet of monkeys that they had to walk past to get to the Hindu shrine. Those guys looked scary.

Then, upon my return home, I found my wife’s day had not gotten better for her, as our internet connection was not working. It turned out to simply be a matter of resetting the router, so I got to be her hero for the evening. You see, there are times when being a geek is a very good thing!

Yes, as someone pointed out in the comments, the new domain did go live last night, probably close to 12 hours from when I first registered it. That’s pretty quick service, if I do say so myself. 🙂 Anyway, for the moment all that is there is an exact copy of the current Child Abuse…

Hummingbird Moth, a photo by mikemac29 on Flickr. Took the Nikon D3000 out for it’s first adventure to Furman this evening. Liked what I saw from the first batch of photos, going to be uploading them to Flickr over the next few days, I’m sure. This one was especially cool, just because it’s always fun…
