Is Gmail doubling storage?

Given the date, I’m a little skeptical of everything I’m reading today. After reading about Kevin leaving In the Trenches I am on high alert for any kind of April Fool’s joke. But many people seem to think that Gmail is, in fact, upping the email storage. That’s cool with me. Guess I really didn’t need to create that second address, eh?

Speaking of that post from the other night, one of the reasons I joined those listener mailing lists, aside from the fact that I do listen to those podcasts, is that I’ve been giving some serious thought to creating a mail/discussion list for my other blog. The forum idea hasn’t really taken off, so I thought perhaps a list where every new post to the blog gets sent out to subscribers and they have the opportunity to discuss the posts or other topics in an email list might do the trick for helping create more of a community around that site. I’ve even toyed with the idea of moving over the current “announcement” email list of posts to this blog to that same format but I’m not sure how well that would work, because so many of you read the RSS feed, and wouldn’t want posts by email. Let me know if you disagree.

I also might have lied in that post. I think I am going to use the blog feature of Yahoo! 360 to move over the travel blog for Finnnegan the Gnomad. There are some limitations of the Gnomad service that don’t exist in Yahoo! 360 so perhaps as soon as this weekend I’ll be putting that together. Also, I checked and I do get to send out invites, so let me know if you want to try it out!

I was thinking last night for a little bit about that EULA for Windows 2000 SP3, and some things occurred to me that I hadn’t thought of before. Now I’ll probably get flamed like hell for saying this, but after I got over the original knee-jerk reaction, I could see why Microsoft is doing this….

    Help Desk Radio

Speaking of the drive down to Cincinnati, while scanning the dial this morning, I caught a few minutes of a show called “HelpDesk”, on WMUB, a college radio/NPR station in Oxford, OH. Turns out that the call-in show is broadcast on-line on Tuesday mornings, and is also available as a podcast. Could be an interesting…

  • An update on the security hole in Morpheus. The hole might just be the users..*L* I still don’t see why on earth, after being told over and over again to not open strange attachments in email, people would download and run any old file that some random stranger decided to share. Nevermind the copyright violations,…

Have We Thought Through The Future Completely?

Interestingly enough, I had planned to write about this topic with a look at automation, specifically self-driving cars and trucks, but then I saw something else in the news online and thought, “yeah, that too!”. The bit of news I saw was about another “adult” dating site getting hacked and something like 300 million user…

Yesterday I emailed a resume and short questionnaire in response to a job posting to do desktop support. The job involved building, upgrading and maintaining PC’s at an office complex. One of the questions on the questionnaire was whether I had a college degree. (Not a CIS degree, just any college degree..) About 5 minutes…

Hard to believe another year has passed. So many things have changed that it’s hard to imagine what I was doing last year at this time was only a year ago, but at the same time, it’s also hard to believe this is the 5th new year I’ve welcomed in with my wife since our…
