Google Reader

Like any true geek, I couldn’t resist trying out the new Google Reader over the weekend. The short verdict? It’s not a bad first attempt, although it loads a bit slow with my 238 feeds. On the other hand, as my days have gotten busier and busier of late, I’ve come to appreciate more and more the ability to look at all the new items in one of my feed categories at once, like I can with Bloglines. Google reader acts more like one of the Outlook-based readers, giving you the headline of each item and making you click the headline to look at each individual item in any given feed. I find it takes less time to scroll and skim through full items than it does to skim headlines and try to click through to headlines that catch my interest. YMMV, but that’s the biggest reason Google Reader isn’t tempting me to swtich.

Last night, after spending the day touring the sights of Louisville, Angela and I spent some time looking for a good place to have dinner. We stumbled onto Melillo’s, a small, family-owned Italian place just East of downtown. What a great little place. The atmosphere is perfect to spend some time hanging out, drinking a…
