2007 the year of networking

While I didn’t make any new year’s resolutions, I did have one particular goal for 2007, and that was increasing my network of friends/peers/readers, etc. In effect, I’m going to be spending 2007 trying to market myself better by reaching out to readers on both sites, fellow photography buffs, other technology professionals, or even just increasing my contact with existing friends. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to sell Amway or anything. I simply have become convinced that there’s power in the connections I have, whether it be professional networking, or other common interests that I might have with folks, and I want to find ways to take advantage of all that knowledge, experience and other contacts to help each other.

With that in mind, as you know, I’ve been working on a great many things to provide more things here, to learn more about who’s visiting, what they get from this, and to connect the varied places and interests I have on-line. I’ve added a link on the sidebar to my LinkedIn profile, and I’ve added Writer/Blogger as a position in that profile. I’ve also added links to a MySpace page that I created to keep in touch with a handful of friends who had pages over there, and added information there about my work with FriendsinTech, and a sample of my Flickr photos.

So you may find yourself running into me, or something I’ve written, in quite a few places this year. Hopefully, you find that to be beneficial, and that you’ll reach out and connect with me so that I can learn from you, about you, and how to be more of a benefit to you.

So, let’s hope 2007 is the year I become less known for being shy than I do for the people I know. 🙂

  1. Have you joined the Columbus Flickr group? They do some photo shoots together during the year – i’m looking to see where they go next and will try to join in with them. Some of them are pretty serious about their lenses though!

  2. Andy, that’s not a bad idea. I’ll have to take a look at that group.

Steven, Absolutely! We’re still in the process of trying to figure out what trips we’re going to take this year, and with my help desk cohort just starting her maternity leave it’ll be April before I can safely get any vacation time scheduled, bt going South is always a popular choice with my wife. 🙂
