Tech Dispenser

ByMike McBride April 17, 2007July 19, 2014 Reading Time: 1 minute

Anyone else out there get an email about a not-yet-released blog-network and aggregator run by Computerworld? Seems they will be doing some ad revenue sharing with blogs in exchange for highlighting posts selected by their human tech editors.

Naturally, since I do not do any kind of ads or have any plans to even try to make any revenue from this site, it’s strictly a hobby, I won’t be signing up, but I was just curious if anyone else has plans to do so.

Thanks Lockergnome

Wow, there’s nothing like getting to work in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee (the free crappy office stuff, but, it’s free and unlimited!) and seeing that you’ve already had over 300 hits to the blog today. (And it’s only 8:30AM) It was quite a nice surprise, as was the source of all those…

A Matter of Time
ByMike McBride May 14, 2008July 22, 2015 Reading Time: 3 minutes

Had coffee this morning with Brett Burney before heading into the office. It was an interesting, and far-ranging, discussion! (In fact I may have more than one blog post about things we discussed, which is always cool.) The first thing that stood out to me was Brett telling me about some ideas he had for…

Legal Tech Twitters?
ByMike McBride February 1, 2008 Reading Time: 1 minute

I saw a post by Jennifer Leggio today about locating network security folks on Twitter, and I wondered how many people who work in the legal technology field are using twitter or other social networking apps. In fact, following Jennifer on Twitter also helped me discover Twitterpaks, which is a wiki setup to encourage new…

Also Turning off Disqus
ByMike McBride December 31, 2013January 2, 2014 Reading Time: 1 minute

One other thing I “cleaned up” this week was the commenting system. While I still think Disqus is a great idea, and I appreciate other sites that are using it and make it easy for me to comment using that login and track down conversations across multiple sites in one place, I started having a…

Linked – Publishing on LinkedIn does not work for reputation building
ByMike McBride January 29, 2016February 1, 2016 Reading Time: 1 minute

This is interesting. I’ve published a few items on LinkedIn out of curiosity, and I could see some benefit in terms of getting likes/comments and potential getting your LinkedIn profile in front of some secondary connections based on those. On the other hand, I have seen a lot, and I mean a lot, of people…

Interesting New Spam Comment Trend
ByMike McBride June 2, 2010June 2, 2010 Reading Time: 1 minute

I’ve seen it twice in the last day on this blog, and thankfully Askimet caught it. In my spam queue there were comments that were identical to existing comments on the same post, just with a new user name and URL added to them. It threw me for a bit of a loop, obviously, to…

Mike,

Just wanted to clarify. Techdispenser.com is a tech news aggregator that will be highlighting posts from the Tech Dispenser network. Your blog is great and if you ever decide to allow ads on your site, please keep us in mind.

Thanks,
Tom – Computerworld
