Replacing Xmarks

I’ve decided to use Firefox Sync to sync my bookmarks and other things now that Xmarks is shutting down. It’s not perfect, since it only works with Firefox, but at this point I’ll settle for that. Interestingly, the beta of Firefox 4 actually has the feature built in, which is maybe the wave of the future. So, if Firefox, Chrome, Safari and IE all wind up building in bookmark synching, would that actually wind up duplicating the functionality?

Well, no, not exactly, you would still have to manually sync between browsers on one computer, but that would get picked up on every computer, and browser you use elsewhere, right?

Like I said, it’s not a perfect solution, but it’s better than none!

For those of you looking for more, you might look at Sync2it. I decided against having a separate process running everywhere, and the service doesn’t work from behind my work firewall anyway, but if you use it, let us know how it goes for you.
