Watch Out For Phone Calls Claiming Your Computer is Infected

Since I’ve recently seen a couple of Facebook friends mentioning the fact that they’ve gotten unsolicited phone calls claiming that their computer was at risk, and infected with malware, I thought I’d go ahead and make a public service announcement about it.
Do not give out any personal information, or download software that allows “tech support services” to access your computer remotely, to anyone who calls you unsolicited.
Got it? Good.
It seems the latest iteration seems to include a request to install TeamViewer and allow the helpful rep access to your computer, where they proceed to actually infect it with malware, and offer to then fix it for a fee. How nice.

Very true and scary. I got several of these calls and refused to give any information. Then one became highly inappropriate. I just stopped answering any unknown number all together after that! Thanks for the continued heads up that they are still calling!
