I’ve posted about this before, but it always helps to have a reminder. If you’re trying to escape an abusive situation, leave your devices behind. In these days of connected cars, maybe leave those behind too, if you can. Or, at least make sure the person you’re trying to get away from is not able to access any GPS information, or has installed a physical device on your car that you aren’t aware of.
The technology can be helpful, but like anything else, it can bite you too.
Olsen says that in the past, if a woman who was being tracked fled her situation, it would be difficult for a stalker or abusive partner to find her again. That was before the latest incarnation of GPS technology.
