Linked – Instagram Will Now Archive All of Your Stories

This is a very different way of implementing Stories, actually:

“Instagram is changing the way Stories are preserved for posterity. Stories Archive will automatically save your Stories for the future, and Stories Highlights will let you choose certain elements of Stories to share with the world. So, if Stories are your bag, today is a good day.”

Is it really? For me, sure I like it. For all of those youngsters who migrated over from Snapchat to use stories just because they knew those posts would disappear after 24 hours, is it so great? Yeah, they aren’t public unless you make them highlights and share them, but they still exist, on Instagram’s servers. Is that what they really wanted? Or will they start migrating on back to SnapChat?

This is actually really cool for me. Let me tell you why. As much as I travel for work, and spend so much time on airplanes, in cabs, on public transport, on shuttles between Corvallis and the Portland Airport, and so on, you’d think I’d get a lot of reading done. But I don’t. I’m very susceptible to motion sickness when I try and read.
