Linked – Is There A Mental Health Crisis In Digital Forensics?

This is an important topic. If you work in digital forensics, I hope you’ll take some time to listen.

Even if you’re not, the conversation around letting your team down if you take time off and the guilt involved in leaving for a better opportunity is important. Many managers have been more than happy to describe their team as a family or compare them to a military unit that is always looking out for each other. I think they do it on purpose, which is partially to make you feel guilty for having a life outside the workplace that is more important to you.

It’s a job. Even if you love your team, it’s a job. When it no longer serves your life, you can leave. When it’s overwhelming to you, you can take a break. If the rest of your team is overwhelmed because you took a day off or left shorthanded because someone left for a better job, that’s management’s problem. You didn’t create this “do more with less” strategy around hiring. They did.

Prof. Sarah Morris joins the Forensic Focus Podcast to discuss the critical topic of mental health within the digital forensics field.
