Linked – It’s Not Just in Your Head—Tech Companies Are Getting Desperate

Oh, the lengths they must go to maintain ridiculous growth expectations from investors.

If you feel like every tech company is adding AI, games, and other features that no one asked for products that don’t make sense, you’re not wrong. The post below gives you some examples and an explanation:

The unfortunate truth is many of these decisions are being made for a specific group of people, and it’s not you and me. Investors poured billions into tech companies with the promise of exponential growth and massive returns. But now, even some of the most successful tech giants are facing slowing growth and increased competition. Not to mention, exponential growth was never a realistic goal in the first place.

I saw one example recently: even personal Office 365 users in some countries are getting Copilot in some versions, and the price is increasing. – Microsoft’s Copilot AI is coming to your Office apps – whether you like it or not.

Did they ask for that? Of course not.

I’ve heard a few folks in the legal industry talking about how much more expensive renewals are becoming because every tech tool is adding AI, and as we know, AI isn’t cheap. Someone has to pay for it, and it looks like that’ll be all of us, in the form of higher prices for the tools we use to get our work done just fine the way they are now.

Not because we need it. They need it to show growth and satisfy investors. The fact they are likely creating a bubble that will burst and end dozens of perfectly profitable companies will be chalked up to bad luck.
