Round up

Got my film from the wedding back last night. Three rolls in total, on top of the 66 digital pics I took. This was my first experiment using black and white film in the Minolta and the results were mixed. Got a few really nice shots of family hanging out after the wedding back at my in-laws house, but the shots taken inside the church were a little disappointing. I’m blaming it on the fluorescent lighting messing up the contrast, and making the focus just that much harder to get exactly right. On the other hand, the color pics are getting much better the more I take.

Unfortunately I don’t have time to get a sample scanned for you all. I spent last night packing, tonight I’m spending with my wife, and then in the morning I’m off to Gnomedex! Speaking of which, I see this morning that Scoble won’t be able to make it. That’s disappointing. I was looking forward to getting a chance to talk to him about life at Microsoft. Maybe next time!

There still should be a bunch of interesting people to meet and greet all weekend long, so I’m sure I’ll still manage to have a good time. If you’re going be sure to stop by and say “hi”. I’ll probably be wearing my Life of a One-Man IT Department t-shirt on Friday, so I should be easy to find!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to change our backup scripts to account for the fact that I won’t be here to switch the tapes next week. 🙂

  • Internet Security, eh?

I spent over an hour helping one of the tenants of our office building with an email problem. He explained to me that he couldn’t send email, even though he was receiving email just fine. Figuring this was a server issue, or a simple settings issue, I agreed to go over and check all of…

  • Anti-virus built in to XP SP2?

As Dana pointed out, this is an interesting article about Microsoft adding a built-in virus scanner to Windows XP SP2. I’m torn, obviously. On one hand, for all those home users who never seem to be able to use AV properly, maybe this isn’t such a bad thing. Although many still won’t remember to update…

  • De-Spam

I’ve already spent a good 30-45 minutes going through all the spam that my boss collected over the weekend. She seems to get more than most folks here, or at least seems more irritated by it, so I tried to go through it all and come up with some Outlook rules that will make things…
