Back in town

We’ve made it back from celebrating my Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law’s birthdays up in Sandusky, OH. Had a great time, thanks to Angela’s folks for taking us up there and showing us a good time!

While I was gone, there’s been no word on the abuse site, although I do notice that it’s now coming up as a DNS error. I’m assuming that means the site is in the process of moving. I think I have all the entries, or at least copies of all the entries, but it’ll probably take me a while to get it all back up to speed. I don’t have backups of all the comments, which is a bummer. We’ll see what happens.

Also I notice that Trillian has come out with a new patch that deals with the Yahoo new protocol issue. I’ll have to remember to grab that later!

  • Indexing of tape backups?

Today at a local ILTA event, I saw a presentation about a company called Index Engines. They built enterprise search appliances, and one of their big sales pitches to the legal industry is that they can index from tape backups. This is somewhat huge. As it stands now, to do electronic discovery on data that…

  • Feed complaints

I was just flipping through my aggregator and read Neil’s post about using a news aggregator. I’d have to say, I pretty much agree with the complaints he has. I generally find that I don’t ever make it to the site to read the contents when those sites post only titles or short excerpts of…

  • Longhorn

I know the blog world is abuzz with news from Longhorn, but don’t expect to see much about it here. Frankly, I’ve got too much to keep with that is actually in my office, either at home or at work, to worry about something that won’t be available for another couple of years, at least,…

  • Activewords

So I promised Buzz, after some email exchanges, that I’d download a trial version of ActiveWords sometime soon. Now, this particular piece of software has been on my radar since I first saw Scoble using it at Gnomedex I back in 2001. The problem I’ve had with it, and the reason I’ve never really bothered…

  • So much for getting caught up.

Seems our ISP started filtering email over the weekend for “adult language”. One day in and they’re already blocking legitimate email to us. Heck our freakin’ Webtrends reports were blocked. I hate filters, and this is why. It’ll block way more legitimate email than it will catch “adult” email, and either way, it’s not worth…

  • New Bloglines Feature

This is actually a pretty good idea. Allow people to claim their feeds on Bloglines and when the time comes to move the feed to another location, you can change the feed on Bloglines and they’ll automatically point all the subscribers to the new feed. That’s not bad. Tags: Bloglines Follow these topics: Uncategorized
