Back in town

We’ve made it back from celebrating my Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law’s birthdays up in Sandusky, OH. Had a great time, thanks to Angela’s folks for taking us up there and showing us a good time!

While I was gone, there’s been no word on the abuse site, although I do notice that it’s now coming up as a DNS error. I’m assuming that means the site is in the process of moving. I think I have all the entries, or at least copies of all the entries, but it’ll probably take me a while to get it all back up to speed. I don’t have backups of all the comments, which is a bummer. We’ll see what happens.

Also I notice that Trillian has come out with a new patch that deals with the Yahoo new protocol issue. I’ll have to remember to grab that later!

  • Think I’m paranoid?

You may think that last post sounded a bit paranoid, but ask yourself this. Assuming that this information was pulled from a press release, someone who wrote that press release decided to throw usenet and IRC out there as havens for illegal file swappers. Someone with enough knowledge of the internet to go there and…

  • Weekend Fun

We had tickets to the Ohio State-San Diego State game yesterday afternoon, and since Angela had to work a morning event on campus well before game time, Finnegan and I had some time to ourselves to tour the campus. He’s got a couple of his favorite poses over on his blog. Speaking of football, any…

  • Attracting the wrong attention

Apparently, putting IE7 as a Technorati tag attracts the attention of someone from ieproviders.com, who leaves comments about the search providers you can plug into the search bar in IE7 even when that particular post has nothing to do with searching. So I’m giving them the attention they crave over there, by exposing them. 🙂…

  • Busy..

Been busy this morning with a bad Symantec Corporate Edition client. One of the PC’s had a problem getting the updated definitions file, such a bad problem that the AV just stopped working, throwing up “bad environment” errors at startup. Since the AV wouldn’t run, it couldn’t communicate with the server it’s supposed to be…

  • The new media

Since it’s right down the street, and it’s a center of some rather large media activity today, I took our digital camera over to the Statehouse at lunch to try and get some better pictures than we were able to get last night during the rain. (Don’t worry, unless Angela wants to blog these, I…

  • She’s not the only one

My wife is not the only one in the family looking for a new name. This here blog needs one too. I’m not a one-man IT department anymore. I’m just a regular helpdesk/support guy who happens to spend a lot of his free time playing around with technoology, and likes to share his ideas and…
