Did I miss a memo?

Our graphics person sent me a picture today, and I noticed that it was a .gif, and since I knew this came from a digital camera that defaulted to .jpg I wondered why he went to all the trouble of changing that. His reply was that the company that hosts our website told him to never use .jpg’s on the website because they are incompatible with some browsers.

Seriously, is this a wide-spread problem? I’ve used a pretty good variety of browsers over the last couple of years and I have never had a problem with jpg’s not displaying. That’s the format I use in my photo galleries, and I tested that out with a bunch of different browsers. What the heck?

    Things I’m digging today

Thing one is finally getting to plan out the details of my trip to San Francisco in October. I’ve got the Summation Certified Trainer Workshop Oct 8-11, but it looks like I’ll be staying a bit longer than that, catching the redeye out of town on Saturday night the 13th. That should give me a full couple of days…
