Did I miss a memo?

Our graphics person sent me a picture today, and I noticed that it was a .gif, and since I knew this came from a digital camera that defaulted to .jpg I wondered why he went to all the trouble of changing that. His reply was that the company that hosts our website told him to never use .jpg’s on the website because they are incompatible with some browsers.

Seriously, is this a wide-spread problem? I’ve used a pretty good variety of browsers over the last couple of years and I have never had a problem with jpg’s not displaying. That’s the format I use in my photo galleries, and I tested that out with a bunch of different browsers. What the heck?

I see the full-feed/partial-feed debate has risen it’s ugly head again. Oh joy, just when I thought I might have missed something while I was toiling in the land of dialup at my in-laws all weekend, and then driving home today. Nope, same old crap. People with advertising, who are worried about the money they…
