I can explain…

See here’s the thing. Angela was out of town so from the time I left work on Friday at 5 until 9 Saturday morning, when I logged into Skype for the Tech Chat, I hadn’t actually spoken to anyone or tried to form a coherent sentence. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I’m assuming the part where I was explaining how I determine priorities based on the time of the month and our billing cycle (only I left out that all important “billing” word) that had Kevin and Steve practically in tears laughing at me is still in it.

Further proof that this contributed to my lack of intelligent conversation can be found in my own loving wife’s blogging about our ridiculous discussion when she made it home last night.

I think I’m going to start getting a reputation for being the comic relief of the Tech Chat group.

Seriously though, it was a good conversation, although I think the hour we spent getting the new and improved version of Skype on Kevin’s Mac to actually record the conversation took away some of the momentum we might have had right at the start! Ah well, you upgrade and suddenly things don’t work exactly like they used to. None of us have ever seen that problem before, have we? 😉

I wanted to add my whole-hearted agreement with my wife’s post from this evening. Coming home tonight to discover just how awful things are, and how much of what I visited last summer is gone, really puts the stress of starting a new job in perspective, doesn’t it? It’s nice to know that I’m now…

Hey, there’s a new patch, I think, that fixes the Yahoo “problem”. I’ve been away all day so I don’t know the details but I know I couldn’t connect to Yahoo yesterday, I went and looked for an update today, installed it, and now I can connect to Yahoo. Where have I been all day?…

  • Integrity, the core of IT

Saw this post over at Day in the Life of an Information Security Investigator about integrity. It, obviously, focuses on working the security/consulting side of things, but I think it’s an important part of any good IT professional’s career. To most people within our organization, our word is all they get to hear about technical…

A little bit of knowledge I picked up reading Coercion by Douglas Rushkoff last night. According to him the US is the only developed nation that does not make teaching media literacy a requirement in its schools. That says soo much about the media in this country that I can’t even begin to talk about…
