Windows Live Writer

Ed Bott loves it. I read about it and downloaded it. I opened it, I configured it to login to this blog. I saw some very interesting things. I saw some definite promise. Unfortunately, I also saw a tool that needs some more work before I can depend on it full time. Seems like they’ve left plenty of room for improvements through plugins with the SDK, but when you go to all the trouble to do WYSIWYG editing, photo and map publishing, and spell checking couldn’t you just go ahead and add a tagging platform or access the Flickr API? Maybe once some folks get ahold of the SDK and develop these sorts of plugins, I’ll be more likely to use it.

  • All in a day’s work

Just another typical day at the office yesterday. The big project was getting another blog up and running so I could keep all my notes on the Office 2003 beta in one place for future presentation to my boss, and as a side benefit, share them with my site visitors. Of course that work could…

Now I’m not going to say that this is my most important tool as an IT guy, but it is one of the things that I’m glad I went ahead and got while I had the chance. It’s my extra 100 foot Ethernet cable! It’s come in handy so many times since I picked it…

Avoid worms with these seven steps Media Player Classic and RealAlternative as replacements for RealOne, Windows Media Player and Quicktime. Interesting, I’ve been using JetAudio at home and it works with all the Real and Windows Media formatted stuff, but not Quicktime. I might have to check this combination out.
