New Blogger

So the new version of Blogger came out of Beta yesterday. Last night was the first chance I’ve been giving to make the switch, I had been kept away from the beta, I assume because of the size of this blog. In fact, the act of moving it was an overnight project, apparently. 🙂

Anyway, look for some new stuff over the next few days as I figure out how to implement a few things. I like the idea of having labels and comment feeds. Even though most of the template stuff doesn’t work for FTP (aka non-Blogspot hosted) blogs, I’m still excited to take this sucker out for some test driving.

    Feed No More…

I’ve retired the ILTA tracking feed. It’s been over a week, so I’m assuming that we’ve pretty much got what we needed from it, and now it’s starting to just be pretty empty. Hope it was of some use to all of you who subscribed to it. Until next year, when I hope to try…

I’m Done Calling It Social "Media"

This is a follow up to yesterday’s post about Morton’s use of twitter. As Aaron and Angela both correctly point out in the comments, this sort of behavior devalues Twitter as a communication tool. I want to stop referring to Twitter and like-tools as “media” because media doesn’t even begin to cover what it does….

Linked – This is the year of the RSS reader. (Really!)

I have heard this before, but is the Twitter situation going to be the thing that moves the needle for RSS? I started using Revue to send newsletters last year as an option for people who were trying to follow my websites on social media but ran into the algorithm deciding not to shat them anything that was being posted, especially with Facebook Pages. It had some subscribers but not that many. After Twitter killed Revue, I also moved to Substack and have seen some growth, but I’m also realizing that we can’t replicate Twitter with email newsletters.

    Sulfnbk Hoax

When did everyone start buying the sulfnbk.exe hoax again? We’ve had 5 different people get warnings about it since yesterday. Are we the only ones? • Not quite great

Yeah so the new blogger gives me new stuff, a comments feed and I can use labels to generate a page of posts with just that topic (i.e. Blogging, and yes there’s a way to get a feed of just those posts too, for example see the FriendsinTech feed.), but it also just doesn’t seem…
