Google Calendar -Blackberry Sync

Aaron first posted about Google Sync this afternoon on Twitter, before he posted a more detailed look on his blog today.

Naturally, I was excited to try it out when I saw him twittering about it, but this being the one day I left my blackberry at home, I had to wait until later this evening to do it!

I did get it downloaded, and let it do a first sync of my Google calendar. It created a couple of duplicate entries where I had entered events in both my work Outlook calendar and Google calendar that didn’t match up exactly. (My short hand for locations was different in the entries.) I guess that wasn’t too unexpected really. Would have been nice if it had simply asked me which one to keep when there were conflicting entries, but that’s a functionality that may be a bit more than this can chew.

Other than that, it works pretty well, and I can keep my Google Calendar in sync with my Outlook at work, and my BB device, at all times without any effort. That’s nice.

If you have a Blackberry, check it out and let me know how it works for you!

    Why iOS Devices are Popular

I’ve probably seen that Samsung commercial a dozen times over the last few days. The one that makes a pretty good mockery of people waiting in line for the iPhone 5. The one that makes a really good point about all the things that still, STILL, aren’t available for iPhone users, that we could have…

    Friday Night Variety Hour

Basically, a bunch of interesting things too long for Twitter, and dumped into one post. 🙂 The Typical Mac User podcast this week had an interesting interview covering Mac Forensics. There was some good info regarding the general idea of how forensics works for all OSes, and lots of good stuff about Mac forensics that…

Couple of Areas For Attorney Tech Education

I’ve seen a number of big names in the E-Discovery industry emphasizing the need for some basic technology education as part of the law school curriculum, especially as it relates to e-Discovery. In the last couple of days, I’ve also seen a couple of articles that highlight a couple of areas where just a little…

  1. My first attempt didn’t go so well – nothing sync’d up or down. I’m going to give it another try, but I’m kinda disappointed.

PS – Thanks for the head’s up. (Yeah, I really am that far behind.) 🙂

  2. I had no problem getting a first sync, it was the duplicate entries as it synched later that caused problems, quite the opposite from what you’re getting, eh?

No worries on being behind, I have my fair share of things I’ve falling behind on lately!

  3. I too use Google sync. FYI – it will only retain past appointments on your bberry for one month. I suggest that you create a backup practice to avoid loosing data.
    Enjoy
