Tweetdeck, Now With Streaming

I went ahead and downloaded the latest update to Tweetdeck earlier on my laptop, and have been using it for a little bit. The “big” feature in this release is the support for user streams, which means tweets will show up even faster. Personally, I’m not in that big of a hurry, so I didn’t care all that much about that. However, I noticed a couple of features that have always been missing from Twitter for me before, included in this update, so I was happy to see them at work.

One, the ability to turn on/off whether you see replies your friends send to people you don’t follow. It can be overwhelming and you might feel odd seeing half of a conversation, but it also helps find more similar people to follow, and helps you learn new things about the people you currently follow that you may not have known before.

Secondly, I love having the ability in Tweetdeck to be notified when I’m added to a list, or someone favorites one of my tweets.

So, nice job Tweetdeck, but I still have one burning desire, that actually only grows with these new features. When will all these features show up in the iPhone version? I’m still waiting for global filters there, which is way more important to me than any of the new desktop features. Get with it!
