This latest announcement is far from a permanent break-up. “Gogo will still be outfitting other aircraft in our domestic fleet with its 2ku satellite Wi-Fi,” American Airlines spokeswoman Martha Thomas told Bloomberg, calling the company “a valued partner.”
So some of American’s fleet will remain with Gogo Wifi and some of it will have ViaSat? Well that sucks for anyone who flies often and has the Gogo monthly pass. It will not be the available Wifi on some flights.
Yeah, that’s me.
Still, better Wifi would be welcome regardless of how they get there.
“Of the 1,000 U.S. parents surveyed, 44 percent said they have never looked at their child’s Facebook or Instagram accounts.” As many of you know, I write about child abuse elsewhere, and one of the things that always catches my interest is anything that involves kids being targeted online, whether it be bullying from other…
The research just proves that we already know from first-hand experience, right? We’ve all been in back-to-back meetings, leaving one Microsoft Teams or Zoom call just to click the link to another, and it’s obvious which team members have done that and aren’t mentally prepared for the current meeting.
We all know it. We all schedule our meeting to end at 25 or 55 past the hour so that we don’t make people do that, and then we still run to the top or bottom of the hour anyway. Sometimes even over.
Proving, once again, that we suck at meetings. And yes, I include myself in that.
“A new ransomware, Popcorn Time, gives users the option of infecting others in lieu of paying the ransom.” I can’t imagine infecting someone else on purpose, but I learned long ago not to underestimate what people will do to others if it’ll benefit themselves. Don’t do this, just keep yourself safe and keep your data…
This doesn’t sound good. “Pen Test Partners (PTP), a penetration testing and security services firm, demonstrated a number of methods for hacking into the satcom systems of ships, which can allow bad actors access to shipboard systems and wreak potential havoc for the vessels and the shipping industry.” Hmm, imagine what kind of havoc could…
Look, work from home eliminates this. So it’s clearly a diversity “plus” to let people work at a temperature they control and are most comfortable with, right? “Temperature discomfort is one of the most common sources of complaint within office environments. In particular, research suggests that excessively cold office temperatures are a frequent issue. Notably,…
OK fine, my near-weekly encouragement to see your employees as human beings first, and look out for them as human beings haven’t convinced you that burnout is a problem for your business. How about the fact that tired, burned-out employees eventually just check out and create a security nightmare?
