Linked – Snapchat’s New Year’s Eve party, featuring Drake, can’t be found on Snapchat
This is an interesting move for any company, but especially so for a social media company:
The reason, according to Daily Beast reporter Taylor Lorenz, is that Snap put a digital cone of silence over the Microsoft Theater, blocking public snaps from the area, and told its employees not to post to social media from the party—on Snapchat or otherwise.
Nothing says that you trust your employees and have nothing to hide from the public like a social media embargo on your holiday party. For SnapChat to do it, is pretty hypocritical, isn’t it? The whole point of a social network is to get people to share, and keep sharing. But not us, oh no. 😉
